gulf water gear.

This past weekend, Chris and I drove down to New Orleans for a boat show.

Sounds so random at first, but not so much when you know what I've been working on lately.... Chris has a great friend who has ventured out to start his own business, Gulf Water Gear. I have been so lucky to be pulled into this fun project. I have loved every second of it. It is not everyday you get to design everything from logo to product design to packaging and eventually some good boat show booth decorating. These guys are so passionate about what they do and that is what makes it so fun to work with them. Make sure to check out their WEBSITE and purchase some goodies. And of course, we would love to have you friend us on facebook and keep up with what the guys are doing, just click HERE and add as friend.  Here are a few snapshots of the Spring 2012 Product Line.

kitchen. paint.

Choosing a paint color has not been the easiest process for me. All the factors that go into a simple paint color are insane! We were discussing this with my parents one night, it starts out simple... Are we going to stay in this house for a while or will we move? ... If we move, where would we move? ... Where do we want to send our kids to school so we can make sure to move to a good school district? ... then we are off on high school education before I know it, all to pick a simple color of paint! craziness!

The good news is, I think after 3 jars of sample paint, I have found the one. Here is the sample board of the "Prairie Smoke." You can see the yellow that the kitchen is now. A little too "in yo face" for me! The piece of furniture it is sitting on is in the process of being all the way sanded down so it can get painted something fun. I also attached the true "before" picture of it along with the painting that helped inspire by Sarah Manning.

Love getting to work with the fabulous Lesley Frascogna of Tulip to design some great baby shower invitations. She put on a perfect little shower for sweet Evelyn. See her blog post for all the details.

sneak peak.

I have to sneak peak this wedding. I can't wait any longer for the professional pictures to come out. I had a blast getting to design for this wedding, from all the wedding and rehearsal invitations to the little detailed print work for the day of. Can't wait to show you the big picture eventually.

strike a match.

literally...

Unfortunately the box of matches got lost in the transfer of stuff to the reception. But I wanted to share anyway. They were for the cigar bar and sparklers. Would have been an extra, fun little touch. Oh well. If that was one of the only things that went wrong, I'm totally ok with it.

thank you. thank you.

When it came time to start writing thank you notes, I just couldn't find what I wanted. The cards were either too swirly or too simple. So of course, I quickly put my design skills to the rescue. I luckily had befriended an artsy little man with a letterpress in his garage, handed down to him from family, and this is what we came up with!

I just love my thank you cards and have a feeling I will be printing more versions in different colors! Let me know if you would like a batch for yourself AND I am always open to custom orders as well!

mix and match. old and new.

I had a blast making my little puzzle of dishes fit together and here is what I came up with!

  ________________________________________________________________________________

I have heard that famous phrase "I never even use my fine china" way too much to pick something fancy that I too would never use. So I took a lot of everyday items from Anthropologie {1} along with some fine china from a few local stores {2} and then most importantly the vintage touch of my grandmothers china {3} to mix and match my little heart out. Hopefully the ability to mix my fine china with some of my fun everyday china will help me use it more often.

hostess with the mostess.

I had by far, hands down, the best gifts to give to my hosts for all of my parties and showers. Custom 5 by 5 paintings, made with love by one of my very best friends, Sarah Manning! They are perfect to fill that empty spot on your shelf or give your bathroom counter something other than just soap! She is oh so talented and does custom work, so make sure to check her out! I also custom made my gift bags by taking a simple craft paper bag and a gold paint pen to write a fun "thank you" across the bag. Simple and unique way to give a gift some extra life!

engagement = party.

It's just not an engagement without a party! I had so much fun designing a quick invitation for this party and even more fun at the actual party! So many people were there to celebrate with us, even the horses. We are so thankful for all of the support that we were surrounded with on this special night!

double. trouble.

Two pieces. exactly alike. definitely a fun sort of trouble!

I just had to play off the indentation on the top and leave the inner part raw wood to give some flair. Left for a very dirty me but it was worth it!

meg.

As the wedding crazy began, I had a good friend {and extremely talented photographer, as you can tell from this one picture} ask if I could do a piece for their to be baby girl. Her due date was the week after my wedding + they wanted it gray... and I just couldn't say no! You make recognize the detailing on the top drawer seeing that I have already done some of this set earlier for them to use in their guest room. They added the knobs which made for a perfect finish! And now Meg is here and doing great and has a fabulous room!

will you... be my bridesmaid.

Yes. I know I need to get a better camera and stop taking snap shots with my iphone. But this gets the job done for now. I had two cards because one just doesn't allow for fun patterns on the back! One to pop the question and one to thank my friends for all they have been through with me. Notice I just can't get away from peach and gray! FAVORITE!

I was obsessed with the King and Queen of Hearts stamps. I was extremely sad they were just a seasonal item. And there is nothing like a good silver pen and custom return address stamp!

save that date.

First order of business is naturally, picking a date! The hardest part of the entire wedding process. After lots of flip flopping, we finally landed on August 6. Since we knew we weren't getting our engagement pictures taken until later, we had our multi-talented friend, Christi Steckel, take some fun pictures for us to use for our save the dates. And so the designing began and I quickly remembered how hard it is to design for yourself. This is the photo and design we ended up going with!

engagement.

Girl meets boy... and so the story goes. Luckily for me, I met the most amazing boy in the whole world. My now husband, Chris Harper, proposed January 22nd, 2011 and we began the fun and crazy planning of the wedding. I know I don't post tons of personal posts, but I decided I would since this leads to a lot of posts with projects for the wedding! And besides, its my blog... I can do whatever I want, right?!? YES! Much thanks to the fabulous Rachel Buckley for taking all of our engagement and wedding photos!
